Crocheted bag “Daisy”
Crochet a colorful bag 🌷
This bag is suitable for beginners and we go through all the steps together. It is made of 14 squares which are then assembled into a bag. Choose your favorite colors from MYO! This bag has been crocheted in both EKO Nano Tube yarn and EKO Mini Tube yarn, and a 6 mm crochet hook. You can choose whether you want to use EKO Nano or EKO Mini (if you have a smaller piece of a yarn roll at home, it is good to combine).
The colors of the flower in the video: “Hot pink” and “Bright green” in EKO Mini and “Yellow” in EKO nano. The base is crocheted in EKO nano “Nature white”.
Yarn consumption: approx. 680 g, of which 225 g are colors and the rest are in "Nature white". The amount of yarn depends on how hard you crochet.

Here's how to do it
This bag is a perfect 'every-day' bag. Choose from lots of colors or crochet the bag in one color, it will be nice either way. We will start by crocheting 14 squares, then we will assemble all the sides on the bottom plate. After that, we fasten the sides with each other and last, we will crochet the handles. The bag can vary in size depending on how hard you crochet, the bag in the video measures (when flat) 42 cm (widest at the top) and 35 cm high. /Creator Lizette

We start by crocheting 14 squares. The squares will be about 13 x 13 cm in size depending on how hard you crochet.
Inner Ring
Start with color 1. Hold the yarn in your left hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your crochet hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the crochet hook and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hook hold the inner ring together and you can proceed below.
Round 1: Crochet two loops (this chain replaces the first half double crochet). After that, crochet 11 half double crochets in the inner ring. A half double crochet is crocheted by taking yarn over your crochet hook and go down with the crochet hook into the inner ring, pick up yarn and pull through (you have three loops on your crochet hook), pick up yarn and pull through all three loops. You have now crocheted a half double crochet.
Crochet a total of 11 half double crochets plus a chain of two loops at the beginning. Finish by going down in the third loop you made at the beginning. Pick up yarn and pull through both loops directly. Leave 10 cm of yarn end and cut.
Round 2: Start by making a loop around your crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that it creates a loop. Tighten around your crochet hook.
Go down the stitch between the first and second half double crochet, pick up the yarn and pull through both loops. Crochet two loops. Go down in the same stitch and crochet a double crochet but you should not do the last pull through i.e. you take the yarn over the crochet and go down with the crochet hook into the stitch, pick up yarn and pull through (you have 3 loops on your crochet hook), pick up yarn and pull through two loops (you have two loops left on your crochet hook). Do the same thing one more time so that you then have three loops on the crochet hook. Pick up yarn and pull through all loops. Crochet a single loop. Now you have crocheted one “leaf”.
Yarn over and go down the next stitch and do the same thing. You don't have to crochet three loose in the beginning but you crochet three "half" double crochets instead of three loops + two "half" double crochets. Do this 11 times (don't forget a single loop between. Finish by going down the third loop of the first chain, pick up the yarn and pull through. When you're done, you should have 12 leaves.
Leave 10 cm of yarn end and cut off.
Round 3 - making the square shape
1. Hole 1: Make a loop around your crochet hook and start in a 'hole' (between two leaves) and crochet 3 loops. Then crochet two double crochets in the same hole. A double crochet is crocheted by taking yarn over your crochet hook and go down with your crochet hook into the inner ring, pick up the yarn and pull through (you have three loops on your crochet hook), pick up yarn and pull through two loops, pick up yarn and pull through the last two loops. You have now crocheted a double crochet. In hole 1 you have crocheted 3 loops and two double crochets.
Do not crochet a loop between the double crochets.
2. Hole 2: Crochet three double crochets.
3. Hole 3: Now you should crochet treble crochets. Take yarn over your crochet hook twice (you have three loops) and go down in the hole and pick up the yarn and pull through. Yarn over again and pull through 2 loops. Yarn over and pull through two loops again and yan over one last time and pull through the last two loops. Do the same thing two more times. Crochet two loops, and then three treble crochets in the same hole. This is the first corner.
Repeat holes 1-3 three times more so you have four sides. Finish by going through the first stitch on the lap, picking up yarn and pulling through all loops. Cut off and fasten the yarn tails.
Fasten all the yarn tails. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop (or with another yarn end) on the backside of the square to prevent it from going up. Hide the tail by fastening it through a few closeby loops.
Fasten all the squares together
We will crochet a front and a back piece, as well as two side pieces and a bottom piece. The side pieces and the bottom piece are crocheted together in the same way and the front and back piece are crocheted together in the same way. We start with the front/back side.
Choose four squares that you want to be on your front/back side. We will crochet them together horizontally (see picture below):
Start by making a loop on the crochet hook, go down the corner on both squares and pick up yarn and pull through. Start in the next stitch and crochet slip stitches in front the loops that are closest to you on each squares. A slip stitch is crocheted by going down the stitch (under the loop closest to you on the both squares), picking up yarn and pulling through all the loops directly.
Continue this way until the first two squares are attached together, continue with the other two squares and crochet in the same way so that all four squares are attached.
Cut off and leave 10 cm of yarn tail. Fasten off the yarn tail like we have done before.
Now, crochet the squares together vertically in the same way as before (see picture 2), but do not cut the yarn. Start as the blue arrow shows. After you have crocheted the squares together, crochet a loop. Then continue crocheting one round around the whole piece with single crochet (see black arrows and dashes). How to crochet a single crochet; you go down under the stitch (not only front loop) and pick up yarn (you have two loops on the crochet hook), pick up yarn again and pull through. Finish the round by going down the first stitch where you started the round and pick up yarn and pull through straight away.
Crochet one more piece in the same way so you have two pieces with four squares on each.

We will crochet two side pieces and a bottom piece. All of these are crocheted in the same way. Choose two squares for each part.
Start at the blue arrow. Start by making a loop on the crochet hook, go down under the corners on both squares and pick up yarn and pull through. Start in the next stitch and crochet slip stitches in those front loops thart are closest to you on each square . A slip stitch is crocheted by going down the stitch (under the front loop closest to you on both squares), pick up the yarn and pull through all loops directly. Continue until you have crocheted the sides together.
Crochet one round around the whole piece in the same way as we did on the front/back piece.
Crochet two more pieces in the same way, so that you have three pieces.

Assembling part
Select the bottom part of the bag. Now we will crochet all the parts together with each other. We will first crochet one round around the bottom and at the same time fasten all the parts to the bottom. So start by having the bottom part with the nice side up. Then put the front piece above it and fasten them with each other (see photo).
How to fasten them: Start by making a loop on your crochet hook, go down in the corners on both squares (make sure to have nice sides out), pick up the yarn and pull through. Start in the next stitch and crochet slip stitches in those under front loops only, which are the loops closest to you on each square. Continue until you have attached the front piece with the bottom. When you are at the corner, crochet one more slip stitch in the same stitch, but go down into the corner stitch on the side piece and bottom piece and continue crocheting around the bottom to attach the first side piece.
Now do the same with the back piece and second side piece.
All the parts have been attached to the bottom part and we will go to the next step and fasten all the sides with each other.

Assembling part 2
All the parts are fasten together with the bottom piece, next assembling part will be to attach all sides with each other. Start in a corner down at the bottom and crochet from bottom and up, attaching två sides of the pieces together. Use the same technique as before. Cut the yarn.
Do the same with all four sides so that the bag gets its shape. Now, fasten all yarn tails in the same way as before. A tip is to twist the bag inside out and fasten all yarn tails on the inside of the bag.
The next step is to crochet handles.
Handles
Now it's time for the handles. First, we will crochet one round around the top of the bag. You can choose if you want to crochet more than one round.
Start where the side piece meets the front piece. Make a loop around the crochet hook and go down in the stitch, crocheting a single crochet into each stitch. Go down into a stitch, pick up yarn and pull through. You have two loops on your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn and pull through both loops. Crochet one round (or more if you like).
Now it's time for the handles. Cut four short pieces of yarn and mark out on the bag where you want your handles to start and end. Mark on the front side and on the back side. Crochet single crochets until you reach your first mark (crochet a single crochet in the stitch that you marked). Then you crochet loops, for reference, in the video we use 40 loops.
When you are satisfied with the number of loops that you made, you go down into the stitch where your second mark is and continue crocheting single crochets until you get to the next mark, where you crochet your second handle and crochet as many loops as the first handle. Go down in the last mark and continue crocheting until you are back at the start.
Now you crochet a single crochet stitch in each stitch. Crochet as many rounds as you wish to reach the desired thickness of the handles.

We’re about to crochet a wonderful and colorful bag (you choose the colors, of course!). If you need help along the way, refer to our simplified version of this pattern. In this case, there are no supporting images, so we recommend checking out the full-length video tutorial as well as the photos in the easy version for assembly.
We’ll start by crocheting the motif square and work two different kinds of petals. These will be referred to as “Petal 1” and “Petal 2” throughout the pattern.
Petal 1 (used only one time at the beginning of round 2)
Ch 2, yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over and pull through (you now have 3 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops remain).
Yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch again, yarn over and pull through (you now have 4 loops), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops remain).
Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Finish with ch 2.
Petal 2
Yarn over, insert hook into the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull through (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops remain).
Yarn over, insert into the same stitch again, yarn over and pull through (4 loops), yarn over and pull through 2 (3 loops remain).
Yarn over once more, insert into the same stitch, yarn over and pull through (5 loops), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (4 loops remain).
Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.
Finish with ch 2.
We will begin by crocheting 14 squares. Each square will measure approximately 13 x 13 cm depending on your tension, but this pattern is based on squares being 13 x 13 cm.
Start with the color you'd like in the center of your squares.
Make 1 Magic Ring (MR)
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), work 11 hdc into the MR, sl st into the 3rd ch of the beginning ch-2. Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Change color
Round 2: Join new yarn with a sl st into the first hdc of the previous round. Work Petal 1 in the same stitch. Then work Petal 2 in each of the next 11 stitches. Sl st to the 1st stitch of the round. Fasten off and cut the yarn. In total, you should have 1 Petal 1 and 11 Petal 2 stitches in this round.
Change color
Round 3: Join yarn with a sl st in a space between two petals from the previous round. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 2 dc in the same space. *Skip to the next space, 3 dc in the same space, skip to the next space. Work (in the same st): 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr (this forms a corner)*. Repeat from * to * three more times. Sl st into the 3rd ch of the beginning ch-3. Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Join the Squares
We will crochet together a front and a back panel, as well as two side panels and one bottom panel. The two side panels and the bottom panel are joined in the same way, and the front and back panels are also joined the same way.
We begin with the front/back panels:
Choose four squares that you want to use for the front or back of the bag. Crochet them together horizontally, fasten off and weave in the ends. Then join the squares vertically. Do not cut the yarn after joining vertically—chain 1 and continue crocheting sc around the entire panel. Work 1 sc in each stitch and 3 sc in each corner.
There are many ways to join squares, but here's how we did it in this pattern: At the seam, work slip stitches (sl st) in the back loops only of each square (the loops closest to you). Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Repeat this process again so you have two identical panels.
Now crochet 2 side panels and 1 bottom panel—all assembled in the same way.
Choose two squares for each panel. Join them the same way as above. After joining the two squares, ch 1 and crochet 1 round of sc around the piece. Work 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Make three panels in total this way.
You should now have five separate pieces that will be arranged as shown below.

Assembling the Bag
Choose the bottom panel of the bag. Now we’re going to crochet all the pieces together.
First, crochet one round of sl st through the loops closest to each other (inner loops) around the bottom panel—this will attach all the other panels to the bottom at the same time. Make sure to keep the right sides facing up so that all the beautiful sides end up on the outside of the bag.
Now that all panels are attached to the bottom, we move on to the next step: joining the sides to each other.
Join the Sides
Start in a corner near the bottom and, using the same joining technique as before, crochet the side of the front panel to the side panel using sl st. Fasten off the yarn.
Repeat the same process for all four corners, joining all the panels together to form the bag’s shape. Weave in all loose ends as before. A good tip is to turn the bag inside out, leave all yarn ends on the inside, and then weave them in neatly.
Handles
Start where the side panel meets the front panel.
Round 1: Crochet a round around the top edge of the bag; make 1 sc in each st. Repeat for as many rounds as you'd like to build up the edge.
Now it’s time to crochet the round with the handles.
Cut four short pieces of yarn (or use stitch markers) and mark on the bag where you want the handles to start and end.
Round 2: Sc in each st until you reach your first marker. Make your last sc before the handle and then ch your desired number of st (for reference, the video shows 40 ch for each handle). Go down in the stitch of your second marker and sc into that stitch. Continue sc until you reach your third marker, ch the same number of st as the first handle, skip to your fourth marker, and continue with sc to the start of the round.
Round 3 and onward: Sc in each st, including the ch from the handles. Work as many rounds as you like to achieve your desired handle thickness.
Your bag is now finished!
We hope you love it—and we’d be thrilled if you share your finished project with us by tagging @makeyourown.se.
