This bag "Alice" is quick to crochet and is a perfect project even for beginners. In this instruction, we crochet a bag/bag with double crochet. The bag is just the right size and can be used for many things, for example at the beach, shopping, or for all your crochet projects. The yarn we have crocheted this bag with is MYO´s EKO Braided rope 3 mm and the size we have used on the crochet hook is 8 mm. Here's how to do it

In this instruction we will crochet a bag/bag with double crochet. The bag is perfect for the beach, shopping, or for all your crochet projects. The yarn we have crocheted this bag with is MYO´s EKO Braided rope 3 mm and the size we have used on the crochet hook is 8 mm. However, you can also use a smaller crochet hook if you have one (size 6 or 7), but then the result will be slightly tighter.
Get started - the innermost ring
Hold the yarn in your left hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your crochet hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the hook and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hook holds the "inner ring" together and we can start on round 1.
Round 1
Now we will start crocheting the first round with double crochets. Start by making three single loops (counts as the first double crochet).
Now we will start making double crochet. Take the yarn over the hook and go down with the hook into the ring you just made, pick up yarn and pull through (you now have three loops on the hook, pick up yarn and pull through two loops (you have two loops left on the hook), pick up the yarn one last time and pull through the last two loops. You have now crocheted a double crochet.
Crochet another 10. You should have 11 double crochet plus the chain of three loops (as you did at the beginning). Now we´re going to finish round 1 by bringing the hook down into the top of the three loops (as you did at the beginning) and pulling the yarn through both loops directly. Round 1 is now complete!
From now on, until you begin the shoulder straps, start each round with 3 chain stitches (these count as 1 double crochet) and finish each round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch that you made at the beginning.
Round 2: Now the bag will start to grow in size, so we begin adding extra double crochets. Work 2 double crochets in each stitch. When you reach the end of the round, you will have worked 23 double crochets. Work the last double crochet in the same stitch as your first 3 chain stitches. You have now worked a total of 24 double crochets in the round.
Following rounds
Round 3: Work 2 double crochets in every other stitch and 1 double crochet in the alternating stitches. Continue until you have one stitch left in the round. In this last stitch, work 1 double crochet. Finally, work 1 double crochet in the same stitch as the first 3 chain stitches at the beginning (together these form 2 double crochets in the same stitch). You now have a total of 36 double crochets in the round.
Round 4: Work 2 double crochets in every third stitch and 1 double crochet in each of the other stitches. Continue until you have two stitches left in the round. In these last two stitches, work 1 double crochet in each stitch. Finally, work 1 double crochet in the same stitch as the first 3 chain stitches at the beginning (together these form 2 double crochets in the same stitch). You now have a total of 48 double crochets in the round.
Round 5: Work 2 double crochets in every eighth stitch and 1 double crochet in each of the other stitches. When you have worked 1 double crochet in the last stitch, finish by working 1 double crochet in the same stitch as the first 3 chain stitches at the beginning (together these form 2 double crochets in the same stitch). You now have a total of 54 double crochets in the round.
Round 6: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet across the round. You now have a total of 54 double crochets in the round.
Repeat Round 6 until you are satisfied with the height of your bag. For reference, in the bag shown in the photos and video tutorial, this round was repeated ten times.
Shoulder straps
On the last round, you will crochet the shoulder straps. Work six single crochets, then make twenty-eight chain stitches. If you want longer straps, increase the number of chain stitches, but keep in mind that the straps may stretch slightly in length.
Skip fifteen stitches on the bag, insert your hook into the sixteenth stitch, and work twelve single crochets.
Make twenty-eight chain stitches for the second strap. Skip fifteen stitches on the bag and insert your hook into the sixteenth stitch. Work six single crochets.
Finish with one slip stitch.
Check that you are happy with the length of the shoulder straps.
If you want wider shoulder straps, work one final round of single crochet in each stitch across the straps.
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Finishing
Finish by cutting the yarn, leaving a 5-10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from unraveling. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops.
Now your bag is ready! :)
