Crochet bag “Elle”
Crochet the nice mesh bag "Elle" for the beach or shopping trip
In this tutorial we will crochet a net bag in double crochet, it is perfect for the beach or shopping. It´s the net version of the summer bag, perfect to have one of each! The yarn needed is Braided Rope 3 mm and crochet hook size 8 mm.
Yarn consumption : 480g (depending on how tight/loose you crochet)
This is what you need:
ECO Braided rope 3mm | 700g
A 3mm wide braided yarn that can be used both for crochet and macrame
Köp produktHere's how to do it
Get started - the innermost ring
Hold the yarn in your left hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your crochet hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the hook and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hook holds the "inner ring" together and we can start on round 1.
Bottom - First round
Now we will start crocheting the first round with double crochets. Start by making three single loops (counts as the first double crochet). Now we will start making double crochet. Take the yarn over the hook and go down with the hook into the ring you just made, pick up yarn and pull through (you now have three loops on the hook), pick up yarn and pull through two loops (you have two loops left on the hook), pick up pull the yarn up one last time and pull through the last two loops. You have now crocheted a double crochet.
Crochet another 10 pieces. You should have 11 posts plus the chain of three loops (as you did at the beginning). Now we´re going to finish round 1 by bringing the hook down into the third loop you made at the beginning and pulling the yarn through both loops directly. Round 1 is now complete!
Round 2
Now the bag will grow in size and therefore we start adding extra stitches. You start round 2 by crocheting four loose loops. Crochet a double crochet and then a loose loop in each stitch. Continue until you are back where you started. You have now crocheted a total of 12 double crochets plus a loose loop between all double crochets. Finish the round the same way you finished the last round.
Round 3
You start round 3 just like the last round by crocheting four loose loops. Crochet a double crochet and a loose loop in each stitch (also in the loose loops between the double crochets on the next round). Continue until you are back where you started. You have now crocheted a total of 24 double crochets plus a loop between all double crochets. Finish the round the same way you finished the last round.
Round 4
Crochet four loops. Now we are only going to crochet in every other stitch from the next row, so you only crochet in the stitches that are over a double crochet from the next row (check the video if you are unsure). Crochet double crochet and a loop in the next 5 'double crochet' stitches (ie you skip all loose loops from previous round and don't crochet anything in them). In the 6th stitch, crochet a double crochet, a loose loop, a double crochet and a loop in the same stitch.
Continue with the same sequence until you are back where you started. Crochet an extra treble crochet and loose loop in the first stitch so that it, together with the loops you crocheted at the beginning, becomes double treble crochets in the same stitch. You have now crocheted a total of 28 double crochets plus a loose loop between all double crochets. Finish the round the same way you finished the last round.
Round 5
Crochet four loose loops. This round we will also crochet in every second stitch from the previous round. Crochet a double crochet and a loop in the next 6 'double crochet' stitches. In the 7th 'post' stitch, crochet a double crochet, a loose loop, a double crochet and a loose loop in the same stitch.
Continue with the same sequence until you are back where you started. Crochet a loose loop in the first stitch so that it, together with the loops you crocheted at the beginning, become double crochets in the same stitch. You have now crocheted a total of 32 double crochets plus a loose loop between all double crochets. Finish the round in the same way as the previous round.
The side - Round 6 onwards
Crochet four loose loops. Just like the last round, crochet only in the stitches that were double crochets in the next round (all loose loops from the next round are left uncrocheted). Crochet a double crochet and a loose loop in each stitch. From now on you should have the same number of double crochet as round 5 and a loose loop between all double crochet. So there are 64 stitches (32 double crochets + 32 loose loops between).
Crochet until you´re happy with the height of your mesh bag and when you´re happy, move on to the handles.
Handle
On the last round we crochet handles. Crochet 7 single stitches , then crochet 28 loose loops (if you want longer shoulder straps, increase the number of loose loops). Skip 17 stitches on the bag and go down in the stitch after and crochet 15 stitches . Crochet 28 loose loops again which form the second handle. Skip 17 stitches and go down in the stitch after and crochet 8 stitches until you are back at the start.
Test the bag if you are satisfied with the shoulder straps before proceeding with finishing.
Finishing
Finish by cutting the yarn, leaving a 5-10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from unraveling. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops. Do the same with the end from the innermost ring as well.
Now your mesh bag is ready, hope you are satisfied :)
