Crochet Knot Bag “Siri”

Crochet a beautiful and practical bag for the summer. Knot bag will become your best friend to town or festivals.

In this tutorial we will crochet a lovely summer bag in EKO Mini Tube yarn. You can also choose to use EKO Medium instead, if you want the bag to be crocheted faster, but then it will be slightly thicker and have a slightly different texture. The color used in the video is graphite blue.

Yarn consumption: 1000 g EKO Mini tube yarn (same size as in the picture). If you choose to crochet in EKO Medium, make the bag slightly smaller, as a thicker yarn has a different yarn input.

Steg 1

Get started - the innermost ring

Hold the yarn in your left hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your crochet hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the hook, and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hook holds the double inner ring together.

Steg 2

Crochet bottom

Carefully loosen the "ring" from your fingers and pull the yarn you have around your left finger through the loop holding your crochet hook. Insert your crochet hook from the front through the large double ring that you are holding. Grab the yarn and pull it through. Now you have temporarily two loops on the crochet hook. Join these two loops by hooking the yarn once more around the hook and this time pulling through both loops. You only get one loop around the crochet hook and now you have made your first single stitch.

Go down with the hook in the ring and hook the yarn and pull through, pick up the yarn again so you temporarily have two loops on the hook, pick up the yarn and pull through both loops. Do this another 7 times so that you have a total of 8 stitches in the innermost ring. Round 1 is now complete!

Steg 3

Second round

Steg 4

For the next round, continue to add extra stitches according to the following pattern:

Round 3: Make two stitches in every other stitch (between these, just make one stitch as usual). A total of 24 stitches in the yard.

Round 4: Make two stitches in every 3 stitches. A total of 32 stitches.

Round 5: One stitch in each stitch - no increases on this lap! A total of 32 stitches in the yard.

Round 6: Make two stitches in every 4 stitches. A total of 40 stitches.

Round 7: Make two stitches in every 5 stitches. A total of 48 stitches.

Round 8: Make two stitches in every 6 stitches. A total of 56 stitches.

Round 9: Make two stitches in every 7 stitches. A total of 64 stitches.

Rond 10: One stitch in each stitch - no increases on this lap! A total of 64 stitches.

Round 11: Make two stitches in every 8 stitches. A total of 72 stitches.

Round 12: Make two stitches in every 9 stitches. A total of 80 stitches.

Attach the small tail from the inner ring by tying the tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from going up. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops.

Do you want to make the bag bigger? In the instructional video, the bottom is filmed up to round 12, but if you want the bag to be bigger, crochet another 1-2 rounds at the bottom as below:

Round 13: Make two stitches in every 10 stitches. A total of 88 stitches.

Round 14: Make two stitches in each 11:2 stitch. A total of 96 stitches.

Proceed to the next step - Side.

Steg 5

Crochet the side

The side is crocheted with regular single stitches without increases. Continue until you are happy with the height of the side of the bag. Crochet as many rounds as you wish. In the instructional video, 30 rounds are crocheted on the side.

Steg 6

The handles

Start by crocheting 14 single stitches. Then you crochet 10 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches before going down the stitch after. This will be the small handle. Then crochet 29 single stitches. After that, the long handle is crocheted with 60 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches again and go down in the stitch after that. Finish the round by crocheting 15 single stitches. In total you have 128 stitches on this round. If you want the handle to be longer, crochet more than 60 loose loops.

If you crocheted an extra round at the bottom, you crochet 16 regular single stitches instead. Then you crochet 10 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches before going down the stitch after. This will be the small handle. Then crochet 33 single stitches. After that, the long handle is crocheted with 60 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches again and go down in the stitch after and crochet 17 single stitches. A total of 136 stitches on the round.

If you crocheted two extra rounds at the bottom, you crochet 18 regular single stitches instead. Then you crochet 10 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches before going down the stitch after. This will be the small handle. Then crochet 37 single stitches. After that, the long handle is crocheted with 60 loose loops. Skip 11 stitches again and go down in the stitch after and crochet 19 single stitches. In total you have 146 stitches

Steg 7

Closing round

Crochet regular single stitches in each stitch for about 7 rounds or until you are happy with the size. Then continue to "Finishing"

Steg 8

Closing

Finish by cutting off the yarn, leaving an approx. 10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from going up. Tighten and hide the tail by fastening it through a few neighboring loops. Do the same on the tail that was left from the inner ring.

Now you're done with your “knot-bag”!
