Crochet gift bags “Nova”
Crochet gift bags that add that little extra to your gift
You can also crochet a larger bag and have your crochet project in it. What do you put in your “Nova” bag? You will need EKO Nano Tube Yarn and crochet hook 6 mm.
Yarn consumption: about 80 g for a small bag and a 180 g for a larger bag. If you want to crochet an even larger bag, you need more than 180g (e.g. project bag).
This is what you need:
Here's how to do it
Step 1: Start by making a slipknot. Wrap the yarn around two fingers so the yarn crosses each other, then pull the yarn through the loop you just made and tighten, you have now made a slipknot.
Step 2: Time to crochet a chain, you choose the number of loops that will be the width of your bag.
Insert the hook into your slipknot and tighten the yarn around the hook. From here you crochet the chain, start by wrapping the yarn around the crochet hook, pull through the loop, and continue crocheting loops until you reach the desired length of the chain.
Step 3: Now you will crochet the bottom of your bag, this is done by crocheting single stitches "around" the chain, i.e. 3 single crochets in the first and last loop of the chain and one single crochet in the remaining loops.
In the second loop from the crochet hook, the first single stitch is crocheted. Insert the hook into the loop, wrap the yarn around the hook and pull up so you have two loops around the hook. Then wrap the yarn around the hook again and pull through both loops, you have now made a single stitch. Crochet two more single crochets in the same loop so you have a total of three single crochets. Then continue to crochet a single crochet in each loop until you reach the last loop of the chain. In the last loop, you crochet three single crochets in the same loop so that the edge is "rounded". Continue crocheting one single crochet per loop on the other side until you have crocheted the round. Bottom ready!
Step 4: Crochet the height of the bag. Here, too, you choose the height yourself, so you crochet until you reach the desired size of your bag.
Now you will crochet a single crochet in each loop, and do the entire round until you feel satisfied with the size. You don´t have to think about starting or ending your round, but it might be an idea to put a mark where your round starts at the bottom to be able to finish nicely evenly.
Step 5: When you have reached the desired height of your bag, finish the last round with slip stitches. You do this by inserting the crochet hook into the loop, pulling the yarn through so you get a new loop and pulling it directly through the loop you have around your crochet hook. Make one in each stitch on your round and finish by making a "knot", think of it as a slip stitch but cut the yarn so you have about 10 cm tail, pull the yarn all the way through the loop and tighten. Hide the yarn end neatly by pulling it with the crochet hook through the loop of stitches along the edge on the inside.
If you want to add a tie around your bag, do this: Cut a desired length of yarn that is more than enough around your bag. Starting at center front, tuck the yarn up and down, as if sewing, between every other stitch. Tip! Since you crocheted your bag as a serpentine, my tip is that you jump up a row in the back so that the yarn ends meet at the same height in the front.
You are now done! Good Job!
