Steg 1

Get started — the starter loop

Start by making a simple loop that you put around the crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that the loop locks when you tighten. Leave about 15cm tail.

Steg 2

The chain

Now we will start crocheting a chain. Thread the crochet hook into the loop you created, adjusting the size of the loop around your hook.

Now use the crochet hook and pick up the long end of the yarn (the one coming from the spool) and pull through the loop.

Now do the same thing until you have the width of the carpet that you want.

TIPS! With this yarn you get to crochet very loosely. Pull each stitch a little extra so the chain is properly airy

Steg 3

Row 2

Now follow the chain back and crochet row 2. Skip the first loop in the chain (which is holding your crochet hook) and take your crochet hook through the loop that comes after. Catch the yarn and pull through (you now temporarily have 2 loops on the hook).

Pick up the yarn with the needle again and pull through both loops. Now you have made your first crochet stitch! Now go down the next loop in your chain and do the same thing. Repeat this row out. When you have finished the row, make a single loose loop (same as when you made the chain). Now you turn the work and crochet the same way on the way back.

ATTENTION! If you forget to add a loose loop before turning the work, the side of the rug will be uneven, so be careful when turning.

Continue crocheting as in row 2 until the mat has the desired length.

Steg 4

Edge

When you are happy with the size, you can, if you like, crochet a border around the rug. Start by crocheting the edge of the rug by going down with the hook in the corner, catching the yarn (you temporarily have 2 loops on the hook), catching the yarn again and pulling through the loops you have on the hook. Go down a total of three times in the same stitch in the corner, this to get a nice corner.

Now we can move on to the side of the rug where we will crochet single stitches again (like when you did the rows). It can be a bit tricky to see where the crochet hook will go down, but you can feel if you squeeze the edge a little.

When you get to the next corner, do the same as you did in the first corner, crochet 3 times in the same stitch. Continue in the same way until you have crocheted a border around the entire rug.

Steg 5

Finishing

When you are finished, cut the yarn but save about 15 cm. Pull the entire end of yarn through the loop of your crochet hook and pull tight to form a tight knot. Then make a new loop by inserting the crochet hook into the same hole.

Catching up the yarn, you now have a loop on the crochet hook. Catch the yarn again and pull through the entire end. Now you have locked the yarn.

To attach and hide the end, pull it through a few loops using the crochet hook on the underside of the rug.

Congratulations! Your carpet is now ready:)
