Crochet Pouf “Rebecca”
Crochet a fantastically nice pouf with different structures
Crochet this wonderful pouf "Rebecca"; with our beginner-friendly tutorial! The pouf has different structures that make it fun to crochet. This can be made larger or smaller if desired. The pouf fits perfectly in the room as decoration or as a pouf for the children. You need two rolls of EKO Braided Rope 5 mm for this instruction and a crochet hook 8 mm. You also need something to fill the pouf with, for example, blankets or towels you don´t use for the season. The pouf measures around 40 in diameter and approx. 25 cm high (depending on how much you stuff the pouf).
Yarn consumption : About 1800 g, but it depends on how tight/loose you crochet.
This is what you need:
EKO Braided rope 5mm | 1000g
EKO Braided rope 5mm is ideal for macramé work such as amples, bags, cord guards etc., but also for crocheting.
Köp produktHere's how to do it
Part 1 : The top of the Pouf
Lap 1 - 00:43
Start by making a magic ring. One way to make it is to use the whole hand as a tool. Pick up the yarn in your hand, lay the yarn along your fingers (on the inside along the palm), and hold the end with your thumb about the ring finger, then wrap the yarn around your fingers so it looks like the letter N. Then turn your hand so you have palm down, keep twisting so the yarns cross each other so it now looks like an X. Thread the top yarn end under the other so you make a small loop, spin that loop half a turn around itself, this will be the first loop to crochet i. Now take your crochet hook and pull the yarn through once in your first loop. You now have the beginning of your magic ring. Good work!
From here you will now crochet so that you get a total of six single crochets, so dive down with your crochet hook into the next stitch, catch the yarn with the crochet hook and pull through so you have two loops around your crochet hook. Catch the thread again and pull through both loops.
Do this until you have your six single crochets. Then finish the round by making a slip stitch - dip into your first stitch on the round, catch the yarn with the hook, and pull through both loops.
The first lap is done! You can now close the hole in the middle by pulling the yarn end until you are satisfied. This can also be adjusted as needed.
Lap 2 - 03:32
This round should be increased by two stitches in each stitch, so you get a total of 12 stitches on your round. On this round we will crochet half double crochets.
From your slip stitch, you crochet two loops, these will count as your first half double crochet. If you want, put a mark at this stitch to keep track of the beginning and end of the round. In the same loop, you should now crochet a half double crochet, start by wrapping the yarn one round around your crochet hook, dip down with the crochet hook and catch the yarn, and pull through so you have three loops around your crochet hook. Catch the yarn again and pull through all three loops. This is a half double crochet.
Continue making 2 half double crochets in each stitch around the round so you have a total of 12 stitches on your row. Finish the round with a slip stitch in the second loop from the beginning.
Lap 3 - 06:03
This row should be increased by two stitches in each stitch, so you get a total of 24 stitches on your row. On this round we will crochet poles (double crochet)
Start by crocheting three loops from your slip stitch, this counts as your first double crochet. Then wrap the yarn one round around your crochet hook and dip into the same stitch as the slip stitch, catch the yarn and pull through, you should have three loops around your crochet hook. Catch the yarn again and pull through the first two loops, catch the yarn again and pull through the last two loops. This is your double crochet.
Continue crocheting two double crochets in each stitch until the round is complete, you should have a total of 24 stitches. Finish the round with a slip stitch only in the back loop of the stitch to prepare for the next round, which will be crocheted only in the back loop of the stitch.
Lap 4 - 08:45
This round is increased by 2 stitches in every other stitch (1-2) so that you get a total of 36 stitches. We will double crochet in the back loop of the stitch for a nice effect.
Start by crocheting three loops from your slip stitch, this counts as your first double crochet. Now you will crochet double crochets only in the back loop of your stitch. So crochet two stitches in every other stitch and in between you crochet a stitch. Here we think it´s easiest to let the first double crochet stand by itself as a stitch, then crochet two in the next and continue on that pattern, in the last stitch then crochet one more double crochet, so that there are two stitches in the stitch with the three loops from Start. On the row you should have 36 stitches. Finish the round with a slip stitch.
Lap 5 - 11:59
This round is increased by two stitches in every third stitch (1-1-2), so you get a total of 48 stitches. This round is crocheted with single crochet. Start by crocheting 2 loops, this counts as your first stitch on the round, then crochet single crochets with the increase as described, until you have 48 stitches on your round. Finish the round with a slip stitch only in the back loop of the stitch to prepare for the next round to be crocheted only in the back loop of the stitch.
Lap 6 - 14:23
This round is increased by two stitches in every fourth stitch (1-1-1-2) so you get a total of 60 stitches. On this round, single crochets are crocheted in the back loop of the stitch. Start by crocheting two stitches, this counts as your first stitch on the round, then crochet single crochets with the increase as described until you have 60 stitches on your round. Finish the round with a slip stitch in the back loop.
Lap 7 - 16:48
This round you should not make any increase, but only crochet a slip stitch in each stitch, a total of 60 stitches, in the back loop. Finish the round with a slip stitch.
Lap 8 - 18:33
This round is increased by two stitches in every fifth stitch (1-1-1-1-2) so you get a total of 72 stitches. On this round, treble crochet is crocheted. Start by crocheting four loops from your slip stitch, this counts as your first treble crochet. Then you crochet treble crochet with the increase as described until you get 72 stitches on your round. Finish the round with a slip stitch only in the back loop of the stitch to prepare for the next round to be crocheted only in the back loop of the stitch.
This is the end of the top of your pouf you can choose to make it bigger or smaller of course. If you want to increase by any round, the template is that each round is increased by 12 stitches. If you feel ready here, we continue with part 2 and that is the height/side of the pouf.
Before we start on the side of the pouf, attach the yarn end from your magic ring. Attach to the inside of the puff, tie a knot around a stitch and then hide the yarn end under neighboring stitches.
Part 2: The side of the pouf
Now we will only crochet with the same amount of stitches per round. If you finished at round 8, you should have a total of 72 stitches to work with, if you chose to continue and make a larger seat part, you should use the number of stitches your last round has.
You can choose to make the same kind of stitches until you reach the desired height of the pouf and meet up at step 16, when we will crochet the bottom, or you can follow the pattern and crochet the details included in the design. If you want to follow the pattern, the instructions are below.

Part 3 - The bottom of the pouf
Now we will crochet the bottom of the pouf. The first round is crocheted in only the back loop to get the same detail as on the top, this is optional. The first round we will not make any decrease in stitches, but crochet the same amount that we ended the middle part with. All rounds of the bottom will be crocheted in double crochet, but in a different way than before, to be able to easily open and close the puff with a drawstring.
Lap 16 - 35:13
This round is crocheted with double crochet in the back loop of the stitch.
Start by crocheting three loops from your slip stitch, this counts as your first double crochet. Then you crochet a double crochet in each stitch. Finish the round with a slip stitch.

This round we will only crochet in the lower double crochet and we will also crochet double crochet in this round.
Start by crocheting 3 loops. Crochet all double crochets in the lower double crochets and finish the round with a slip stitch. Be careful to ensure that all the stitches worked under the post of the next row form a row.
Then cut the thread and save about 30 cm. Pull the thread through your last loop and make a knot. Then weave your piece of thread through the natural holes left between the stitches on the last round, we use the thread to make a drawstring so the pouf can be easily closed and opened.
When you fill your puff think recycled or storage. Take blankets or towels you don´t use for the season or maybe clothes you need to keep in storage. Stuff the puff as soft or hard as you like, close it with your drawstring, and tie a knot. Enjoy!
