Steg 1

Gauge: 16 stitches × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm in double moss stitch (in the round) on 5 mm needles

If your fabric is too tight, go up a needle size.
If it’s too loose, go down a needle size.

Steg 2

Cast on

Cast on 36 stitches using the long-tail cast-on method.

Preparation
Measure a long enough yarn tail (better too long than too short).
Make a slip knot, hold both needles together, and place the loop on the needles. Tighten slightly.
(This counts as your first stitch. Casting on over two needles keeps the edge stretchy.)

Hold the yarn
Place the yarn tail around your left thumb
Place the working yarn over your left index finger
Hold both ends with your ring and little finger (forming a “V”)

Cast on stitches
Insert the needle under the thumb loop
Catch the yarn from the index finger
Pull it through the loop
Release the thumb and tighten

Repeat until you have 36 stitches

Steg 3

Double moss stitch

Now work 60 rows in double moss stitch. Here we combine knit and purl stitches.

How to knit a stitch

Insert the right needle from the front through the front leg of the stitch.
Wrap the yarn around the needle.
Pull the yarn through the stitch.
Slip the old stitch off the left needle.

How to purl a stitch

Bring the yarn to the front of the work.
Insert the right needle from back to front through the stitch.
Wrap the yarn around the needle.
Pull the yarn through the stitch.
Slip the old stitch off the needle.
