Steg 1

Row 1

Start by making a slip knot. You do it like this: Wrap the yarn about two fingers so that the yarn crosses each other, then pull the yarn through the loop you just made and tighten, you have now made a slip knot. Now you are going to crochet a chain and the chain will be the width of your seat base. You yourself choose the size and, accordingly, the number of loops on your chain.

For reference, 19 loops are crocheted on the chain in the video.

Steg 2

Row 2

Now you should crochet rows of slip stitches.

Start in the second loop from your crochet hook, tuck the crochet needle down into the loop, catch the yarn and pull up and pull directly through your loop you have about the crochet hook. Crochet slip stitches into each loop until you reach the end of your chain.

Steg 3

Row 3

Now you're going to do slip stitches only in the back loop of your loop. The same principle as you did in the previous round, but instead of crocheting around the entire loop, you'll only crochet around the back loop.

So, insert your crochet hook into the first stitch of the round, but only under the back loop of your loop, which is the part of the loop that is "farthest away from you". Catch the yarn and pull up a loop through the loop, just as you did in the first round.

Always finish the row by crocheting a loop. This loop counts as part of the round.

Continue crocheting rows back and forth until you reach the desired length of your sitting mat. You decide the size. For reference, 20 rounds are crocheted on the sitting mat in the video.

Consider: That an edge is crocheted around as a finish that adds a little extra width and length.

Steg 4

The Edge

Now the edge should be crocheted around the seat base, you decide for yourself whether you want to crochet one or two turns.

Now single crochet are crocheted as a technique. Start from the corner where you left off. You will knit three single crochet in each corner to get a rounded edge and a single crochet in each loop/row in the rest.

Start at the corner you are, crochet a single crochet for that corner (you will crochet the last two as a finish when you reach the round) Then crochet one single crochet per loop or between your rows on the edges. When you reach the corner where you started, crochet two additional single crochet and finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet

If you want to crochet another row, follow the same principle, three single crochet in the corner and then one per loop/row.

Finish by cutting the yarn and pulling the yarn ends all the way through the loop to get a knot. Then hide the yarn ends. One way to do that is to “thread” back and forth between a pair of loops along the edge and then down under a few stitches in the row below to hold the yarn in place.

Done, good job!
