Köp produktHere's how to do it
In this instruction we will crochet a basket in EKO Braided rope 5mm. You decide how big you want the basket to be.
Get Started — The Inner Ring
Hold the yarn in your other hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your crochet hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the crochet hook and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hooks together the double “inner ring”.
Bottom
Carefully detach the “ring” from your fingers and pull the yarn you have around your left finger through the loop that holds your crochet hook. Pass your crochet forward through the large double ring that you have. Grab the yarn and pull it through. Now you have two loops on the crochet hook.
Connect these two loops together by hooking the yarn one more way around the crochet hook and pull it straight through both loops. You now have one loop around the crochet hook and you have made your first single crochet.
Repeat this crochet stitch until you have gone around the entire circle and filled the starting loop with stitches. Go down with the crochet hook into the ring and hook on the yarn and pull through, pick up the yarn again so that you have two loops on the crochet hook, pick up the yarn and pull through both loops.
Do this 7 more times so that you have a total of 8 stitches in the inner ring. Now turn 1 is finished!
Second rond
The bottom of the basket will grow in size and will therefore start adding extra stitches. In this round, we will make two stitches in each stitch from round 1. Pass the hook through both sides of the first stitch you made for the first round and pull the yarn through. You now have two loops on the hook. Grab the yarn again and pull it through both loops. Now you only have one loop on the hook and have crocheted the first stitch. On this round, we will make two stitches in each stitch so you go down in the SAME stitch again and catch the yarn and pull through so you temporarily have 2 stitches on the hook. Then you pick up the yarn again and pull through. You have now made two stitches in the same stitch. Continue in the same way round out, a total of 16 stitches on round 2.
In the following laps, continue to add extra stitches according to the following requirements:
Round 3: Make two stitches in every other stitch (between these you only make one stitch as usual)
Round 4: Make two stitches in every 3rd stitch
Round 5: One stitch in each stitch - no increases on this round!
Round 6: Make two stitches in every 4th stitch
Round 7: Make two stitches in every 5th stitch.
Round 8: Make two stitches in every 6th stitch.
Round 9: Make two stitches in every 7th stitch
And so on. It is up to you how big you want to make the bottom, if you have 1kg of yarn we recommend max. 10 rounds so that the yarn is also enough for the side, but of course you can make the basket even bigger. Remember to always do every 5th row without additions.
Once you´re happy with the size, move on to the next step!
The side
Look at the back of your work. You will see two loops that are close to each other as in the picture. Go through both with your crochet hook. Hook the yarn again and pull through both loops. Here you use the same technique as before, but grab loops from the inside edge of the bottom to make the basket turn upwards. You will see that it will be like a border at the bottom. Crochet around the entire bottom.
Now we will crochet the side so the basket grows in height. This pattern is very simple:
Start by skipping a stitch and then crochet two stitches in the same stitch. Skip the next one, then crochet two stitches in the same stitch again. Continue like this throughout the so-called the wall until you are happy with the height. You will always have the same number of stitches on the rows because you make as many doubles as you skip. When the basket is as high as you wish, continue to the last step.
Closing
TIP: Before you finish, you can crochet around a "regular" round, i.e. one stitch in each stitch, in case you feel that the wall needs more strength.
Finish by cutting the yarn, leaving a 5-10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from unraveling. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops. Do the same to the tail left from the inner ring.
Congratulations, now you're done with your basket! :)
