Steg 1

We start by crocheting a chain. To know how long the chain needs to be, measure the number of stitches after your head measurement. A tip is to keep your chain from the neck up to the forehead. Feel free to make the headband a little tighter because it can stretch during use.

Row 1: Begin by making a slipknot around the crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that the loop locks when you tighten. Leave about 15 cm tail. Use the crochet hook and pick up the yarn, with the end coming from the yarn spool, (you temporarily have two loops on the crochet hook) and pull through to form a loop (the first loop).

Once you've measured and are happy with the length of your chain, add an extra loop.

Steg 2

Row 2:

You will now crochet with single crochet/stitches. Start in the second stitch from the hook (skip the first loop), dive down with your hook, catch the yarn, and pull up so you have two loops around your hook. Then catch the thread again and pull through both loops. You have crocheted your first single crochet. Continue until you reach the end of your chain and finish your round by making 1 loop, turn your work, and crochet the next row.

You now continue in the same way until you are satisfied with the width. You decide the width of your headband.

When you have reached the desired width, finish by making a loop (you do not need to cut the yarn).

Steg 3

Crochet the headband:

Now we will attach the headband, here you can choose to either make it twisted or plain. I chose to twist the middle without attaching the twist in the middle, if you want to make sure that your twist is fixed, you can easily make a stitch afterwards to keep it in place. Watch the video if you are unsure how to twist your headband.

If you've cut the yarn, start by folding your new yarn end in half to make a U shape, dip into the first stitch on the short end of the headband, making sure you go through both parts. Pull the thread up so you have a loop. Crochet one more loop, then continue with single crochets all along the short side as directed below. Watch the video at 03:49.

  • From your loop (which you finished with on your last row), dip into the next stitch (through both layers) catch the yarn and pull up so you have 2 loops on your hook. Catch the yarn again and pull through both loops making a solid stitch. Continue crocheting single crochets the row out, finish by making a loop, cut the thread, and pull through, and make a knot. Easily hide your thread end by weaving it between the crochet stitches with your crochet hook.

Well done!
