Steg 1

Start by making a running knot/loop by taking the end of the yarn and twisting two turns around your fingers. Use the crochet hook to pull the inner yarn under the outer yarn to create a loop. Tighten the knot and thread the crochet hook into the loop.

Row 1: Now we will crochet a chain consisting of 30 loops, but you can crochet more or fewer loops depending on how long you want the hat to be. To crochet a loop, catch the yarn with the crochet hook and pull again. When you have crocheted 30 (or more/fewer) loops, you move on to row 2. 30 loops corresponds to adult size medium.

Steg 2

Row 2: When you have crocheted a chain, crochet an extra loop and turn. Now we will crochet three slip stitches. You crochet a slip stitch by diving down with the hook, picking up yarn and pulling up a loop so you have two loops on the hook and then pulling the top loop through the second.

When you have crocheted three slip stitches, you must crochet three single stitches. You crochet a single stitch by going down into the second loop and picking up yarn and pulling through (you have two loops on the hook). Then you pick up yarn again and pull through both loops.

Next, we will crochet half double crochets all the way down. You croche a double crochet by wrapping the yarn around the hook, before diving into the loop and pulling up another loop. Now you have three loops on the hook, catch the yarn, and pull through all three. A half-double crochet is the same as a single crochet, but you wrap the yarn around the hook once before diving down. Make an extra loop and turn.

Steg 3

Row 3. When you've crocheted all the way down, make an extra loop and turn. Now you will work double crochets in only the back loop all the way up. If you look at your stitches, you'll see that there are two lines, the one closest to you is the front loop and the one furthest back is the back loop, the one we're going to crochet into on row 3.

Row 4 - 40: Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have crocheted about 40 rounds (crochet as many as necessary for the benie to fit around your head).

Steg 4

Now we will sew the hat together from the bottom edge to the top. Use a large, blunt sewing needle and yarn.

You sew the top of the hat together by threading the needle through the "turning loops", i.e. the loops on the top that you crocheted to be able to turn. Pull the yarn together so that the hole at the top is as small as possible. Fold up the edge of the hat.

Now you're done, nice job!

Row 1: 31 ch (31)

From Row 2 onward, each row ends with a chain stitch, and then you turn your project. Start each new row by crocheting in the 2nd chain from the hook. Turning chains are not included in the total stitch count for the row.

Row 2: 3 sl st, 3 sc, 24 hdc (30)

Row 3: 30 sc in blo (30)

Rows 4-40: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have crocheted approximately 40 rows (or enough to fit around your head).

Now we will sew the beanie together from the bottom edge to the top. Use a large, blunt sewing needle and yarn. To close the top of the beanie, thread the needle through the "turning chains"—these are the stitches at the top that were made for turning each row. Pull the yarn tight to close the hole as much as possible. Cut and weave in the yarn ends.

Fold up the brim of the beanie.

You're done—great job! 🎉
