Crochet Carpet “Agnes”
Crochet a beautiful rug with different techniques.
The design of this carpet is simple and timeless. The colors are Scandinavian and subtle, and the hexagonal shape gives an interesting expression. The rug is easy to place and simple to combine with other decor in different rooms of your home. All you need are as many colors as you wish in EKO mini and a 7 mm crochet hook. The colors used in the pictures are "light grey" and "nature white."
This pattern includes many different steps (so that the beautiful texture of the carpet can be created), and we recommend that you have crocheted something before.
Yarn Consumption: Approx. 2000 g for a rug with a diameter of 110 cm.

Here's how to do it
This carpet is crocheted in rounds using single crochet, double crochet, and chain stitches. When changing colors for the upcoming round, make the last pull through of the stitch before (i.e., the last stitch of the round you're finishing) with the new color. Once you've finished crocheting the carpet, it's beneficial to block it so that it reaches the correct size and has a nice shape with straight edges. /Johan
We will crochet from the inside out. The pattern is based on using two colors. For the color light grey.
With light grey.
Round 1: Start by crocheting 6 single crochets into a magic ring. If you're unsure how to crochet single crochets into a magic ring (magic ring single crochet), please refer to the video below.
Round 2: Crochet two single crochets in each stitch. You will have a total of 12 stitches in the round.
Round 3: Crochet two single crochets in every other stitch, with one single crochet in between. You will have a total of 18 stitches in the round.
Round 4: Crochet two single crochets in every third stitch, with two single crochets in between. Finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. You will have a total of 24 stitches in the round. If you're unsure how to make a slip stitch (Slip Stitch), please refer to the video below.
Now, switch to the color nature white.

Round 5: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), then crochet another double crochet into the same stitch. Crochet one chain stitch and skip one stitch. Repeat the following 10 times: Crochet two double crochets in the next stitch, crochet one chain stitch, and skip one stitch. You will have a total of 36 stitches in the round. If you're unsure how to crochet a chain stitch (Chain) or a double crochet (Double Crochet), please refer to the videos below.
Round 6: Crochet one single crochet in each double crochet and one single crochet around each chain space all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. You will have a total of 36 stitches in the round.
With the color light grey.
In Round 7, we will "crochet together the 3rd and 4th double crochet from round 5." To do this, go into the first stitch/double crochet of round 5 and pull up yarn, then go into the second stitch/double crochet of round 5 and pull up yarn, so you have three loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops. Remember that round 5 is one step down from how you usually crochet. This technique applies every time it says "crochet together..."
Round 7: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), then crochet another double crochet in the same stitch. Crochet two double crochets in the next stitch, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 3rd and 4th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet. To crochet together, go into the 3rd stitch and pull up yarn, then go into the 4th stitch and pull up yarn, so you have three loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops (see the images below if you'd like help with the technique).

Crochet two chain stitches.
Crochet two double crochets in each of the 7th and 8th stitches, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 7th and 8th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet (crochet together just as described above).
Crochet two chain stitches. Crochet two double crochets in each of the 13th and 14th stitches, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 11th and 12th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet, crochet two chain stitches.
Crochet two double crochets in each of the 19th and 20th stitches, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 15th and 16th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet, crochet two chain stitches.
Crochet two double crochets in each of the 25th and 26th stitches, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 19th and 20th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet, crochet two chain stitches.
Crochet two double crochets in each of the 31st and 32nd stitches, crochet two chain stitches, and crochet together the 23rd and 24th double crochets from round 5 with a single crochet, crochet two chain stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 54 stitches in the round.
Round 8: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), then crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in the following stitch, crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches.
Crochet one single crochet (in the single crochet between the chain spaces of the previous round), crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet one double crochet, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in the following stitch, crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches. Crochet one single crochet (in the single crochet between the chain spaces of the previous round), crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 66 stitches in the round.

Round 9: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet one double crochet in the next stitch, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in each of the next two stitches, crochet two chain stitches and skip two stitches.
Crochet one single crochet (in the single crochet between the chain spaces from the previous round), crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet two double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in each of the next three stitches, crochet two chain stitches and skip two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in each of the next four stitches, crochet two chain stitches and skip two stitches. Crochet one single crochet (in the single crochet between the chain spaces from the previous round), crochet two chain stitches, and skip two stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet four double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Crochet one double crochet in each of the next four stitches, crochet two chain stitches and skip two stitches. Round 12: Repeat the following 6 times: Crochet five single crochets, crochet one single crochet in the next stitch and one double crochet in the corresponding stitch from the previous round (where you crocheted two double crochets).
Crochet one single crochet in the next stitch and one double crochet in the corresponding stitch from the previous round (where you crocheted two double crochets). Crochet five single crochets and one single crochet around the chain space. Crochet one single crochet in the next stitch and one single crochet around the chain space. Finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. You will have a total of 102 stitches in the round.
Round 13: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet five double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next nine stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet six double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next nine stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 114 stitches in the round.
Round 14: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet six double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next ten stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet seven double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next ten stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 126 stitches in the round.

Round 15: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet seven double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches. Round 18: Repeat the following 5 times: Crochet five single crochets. Crochet one double crochet in the corresponding stitch of the previous round. Crochet one single crochet in each of the next five stitches. Crochet one double crochet in the corresponding stitch of the previous round (where you crocheted two double crochets).
Crochet one more double crochet in the next corresponding stitch of the previous round (where you crocheted two double crochets). Crochet one single crochet in each of the next five stitches. Crochet one double crochet in the corresponding stitch of the previous round.
Crochet five single crochets and crochet one single crochet around the chain space. Crochet one single crochet in the next stitch and one single crochet around the chain space. Finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. You will have a total of 162 stitches in the round.
Round 19: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet ten double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next fourteen stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet eleven double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next fourteen stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 174 stitches in the round.
Round 20: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), crochet eleven double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next fifteen stitches.
Repeat the following 4 times: Crochet twelve double crochets, crochet two double crochets in each of the next two stitches, and crochet one double crochet in each of the next fifteen stitches. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have a total of 186 stitches in the round.

Round 31: Crochet one single crochet in each double crochet and one single crochet around each chain space all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch in the first single crochet of the round. You will have 270 stitches in the round.
Round 32: Crochet three chain stitches (this replaces the first double crochet), then continue crocheting one double crochet in each single crochet all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet of the round. You will have 270 stitches in the round.
Fasten off all the yarn ends and block your mat if necessary. If you're unsure how to fasten off, see the video below.
- To block your carpet:
- Lay your carpet flat on a clean surface, such as a blocking board, yoga mat or a large pillow.
- Gently stretch and shape it to the desired size.
- Use blocking pins to hold the edges in place (if necessary).
- Lightly steam the mat using a steam iron, holding the iron a few inches above the mat. Make sure the fabric isn’t too hot to touch. You can also spray the carpet with water.
- Let it cool and dry completely before removing the pins.
Your carpet is done!

- Lay your carpet flat on a clean surface, such as a blocking board, yoga mat or a large pillow.
- Gently stretch and shape it to the desired size.
- Use blocking pins to hold the edges in place (if necessary).
- Lightly steam the mat using a steam iron, holding the iron a few inches above the mat. Make sure the fabric isn’t too hot to touch. You can also spray the carpet with water.
- Let it cool and dry completely before removing the pins.
Your carpet is done!

In Round 7, we will "crochet together the x-th and x-th dc from Round 5." You crochet them together by going into the first dc from Round 5, picking up the yarn, then going into the second dc from Round 5, picking up the yarn again, so you have three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops. Remember that Round 5 is a step down from how you normally crochet. See the images below.
The above technique applies every time the instruction says "crochet together...".
