Crochet doily "Lilian"
Crochet a Beautiful Mandala Doily
This beautiful mandala doily is a lovely interior detail that works all year round. The pattern consists of basic stitches in different combinations, making the design easy to follow while still being fun and interesting to crochet. The mandala has a classic and timeless look that makes it easy to combine with different interior styles in your home. You will need Cotton Cloud (we have used the colour "Nature White"), a 3.5 mm crochet hook, scissors, and a needle for fastening the threads.
Yarn usage: Approx. 2 balls of Cotton Cloud, 100 g each, for a doily with a diameter of approximately 48-50 cm.
Please note that in these instructions, we use videos from our technique school together with images.

Here's how to do it
The doily is crocheted in the round, working from the center outwards. We mainly use the two techniques explained in Step 1. It can be helpful to practice these before you begin, or you can learn them as you go. Once you've finished crocheting your doily, we recommend blocking it to achieve the correct measurements and a beautiful, round shape. Happy crocheting! /Johan

Fasten off all ends
There are many ways to block a doily, and here is one suggestion.
1. Soak the doily: Soak the doily in lukewarm water and let it sit for a while so that the fibres become thoroughly wet. Gently squeeze out the water — do not wring or twist it.
2. Remove excess water: Place the doily on a towel, roll the towel up with the doily inside and gently press. The doily should be damp, but not dripping wet.
3. Lay out and shape: Place the doily on your blocking mat/pillow/yoga mat. Start from the centre and work your way outwards. Gently shape each section and open up the details of the mandala pattern.
4. Pin in place: Pin the doily around the entire edge. For a round doily, it is a good idea to measure from the centre to the edge at several points to make sure it is perfectly round and does not pull in any direction.
5. Let it dry completely: Leave the doily in place until it is completely dry. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a day, depending on the size and humidity.
6. Remove the pins: Once it is completely dry, you can carefully remove all the pins. The mandala pattern should now be much more defined and the shape should hold nicely.
Tip: Cotton can usually be blocked quite firmly, but start gently. It is easier to stretch the doily a little more later than to try to restore a shape that has been stretched too much.
