Basket with lid “Binky”
Crochet cute baskets with a lid
Here you get two patterns in one! You can choose to make a basket with a wooden knob or with bunny ears. With different colors and two lid options, you can create a basket that feels festive, playful, or simply cozy and homey. Suitable for both beginners and experienced crocheters. You will need EKO Nano (we used “Chalk Green”/“Yellow” and “Nature White”), a 5 mm and 6 mm crochet hook, scissors, stitch markers, a wooden knob, and optionally a larger yarn needle. The basket measures approximately 10 cm high (without knob/ears) and about 13 cm in diameter.
Yarn Consumption: approx. 150–170 g of the main color and approx. 20 g of color 2.
Please note that in this pattern, we use videos from our technique library together with images. In this instruction, we also include some specific videos.

This is what you need:
Here you can directly purchase the material for the product. Please note that the instruction is digital and appears here on the page (no written instruction).

Here's how to do it
The base of the basket is crocheted flat and in the round in a spiral – use a stitch marker to keep track of the rounds. Since the sides of the basket feature a pattern, you need to finish each round (if you choose to make it without the pattern, the sides can also be crocheted in a continuous spiral). Instructions on how to finish and begin each round are included in the pattern description. Good luck! /Michelle

THE BASE OF THE BASKET
Take your main color (Chalk Green in this case). Use a 5 mm crochet hook.
Round 1: Create a magic ring. Then crochet 6 single crochets into the magic ring. You now have a total of 6 stitches.
If you are unsure how to crochet single crochets into a magic ring, see the video below.
Round 2: Crochet increases in every stitch, i.e. work two single crochets in each stitch. You now have a total of 12 stitches in the round.
Round 3: First crochet *1 single crochet, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat from *...* a total of 6 times. You now have 18 stitches in total.
Round 4: *Crochet 2 single crochets, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat between *...* a total of 6 times. You have 24 stitches in total.
Round 5: *Crochet 3 single crochets, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat between *...* a total of 6 times. You have 30 stitches in total.
Round 6: *Crochet 4 single crochets, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat between *...* a total of 6 times. You have 36 stitches in total.
Round 7: *Crochet 5 single crochets, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat between *...* a total of 6 times. You have 42 stitches in total.
Round 8: *Crochet 6 single crochets, then 1 increase (two single crochets in the same stitch)*. Repeat between *...* a total of 6 times. You have 48 stitches in total.

Prepare for Round 9: Remove the crochet hook from the loop. Insert it through the first single crochet of the round from the back, grab the loop, and pull it through. The back side is meant to end up on the inside of your basket.
See the video (Video 01) below if you are unsure.

THE SIDES OF THE BASKET
If you want to crochet using only one color, you can work in a continuous spiral instead of finishing each round. However, if you want to crochet with a pattern, you need to finish each round. We will show how to do it with pattern crochet.
Continue with the main color. Switch to a 6 mm crochet hook.
Round 9: 48 slip stitches. Finish with 1 green chain stitch. (49)
See the images below for how to crochet Round 9.

TIP/HACK: See “Video 02” below if you would like a more “invisible” transition from slip stitches to single crochets (which are worked in Round 10). (Text is provided below the video.)
Do the following: Insert your hook into the middle of the first slip stitch of Round 9.

Pick up yarn:

Pull through, you have 2 loop on the hook.

Lift the last loop off the crochet hook and place your yarn between the hook and the loop.

Pick up the loop again and work a slip stitch.

Turn, Chain 1 and begin Round 10.

Round 10: Crochet 48 single crochets.

Finishing: See “Video 03” if you need help with how to finish and begin the rounds. Text instructions are provided below the video.
Finish as follows (text): Remove the crochet hook from the loop.

Insert the crochet hook from the inside of the basket, through the first single crochet of the row.

Grab the loop you released earlier and pull it to the inside.

Release the crochet hook again (leaving the loop on the inside). Insert it into the same first single crochet again, this time from the outside.

Yarn over and pull through.
Pick up the loop from the inside – you now have two loops on your hook. Add the white yarn before pulling through the green yarn. Make 1 green chain stitch – this is the first green single crochet of Round 11.

Round 11 – Round 12: Crochet 48 green single crochets while carrying the white yarn. Finish as before with green yarn. (48)
Round 13: *2 green single crochets, 1 white single crochet, 3 green single crochets*. Repeat between *…* a total of 8 times. Finish as before with green yarn. (You have a total of 48 stitches)
Round 14: *2 green single crochets, 2 white single crochets, 2 green single crochets*. Repeat between *…* a total of 8 times. Finish as before with green yarn. (You have a total of 48 stitches)
Round 15: *2 green single crochets, 3 white single crochets, 1 green single crochet*. Repeat between *…* a total of 8 times. Finish as before with green yarn. (You have a total of 48 stitches)
Round 16– 17: Crochet 48 green single crochets while carrying the white yarn. Finish as before with green yarn. (You have a total of 48 stitches)
Round 18: Crochet 48 green single crochets while carrying the white yarn. Finish as usual, but when you pull the loop to the inside of the basket, leave it there. You are now preparing to crochet slip stitches along the edge to strengthen the opening. (48)
Cut the white yarn, leaving a tail long enough to weave in later.

Do as follows – see “Video 05” below: Release the crochet hook from the green loop. Insert the hook into the last single crochet of the round you just finished. Also go through the loop waiting on the inside, then yarn over and pull through. Continue with Round 19.
Round 19: Crochet 48 green slip stitches along the opening. Finish by cutting a piece of yarn long enough to weave in with the first slip stitch of the round. (48)
Weave in any remaining loose ends.
