Steg 1

Get started

Start by making a slipknot around your crochet hook. One way to do this is to put the yarn 1.5 turns around your fingers and then pull the tail through from the back so that the loop locks when you tighten. Leave a 5-10 cm tail.

Steg 2

The chain

Continue adjusting the size of the loop around your crochet hook. Using the crochet hook, pull the yarn through (the part that comes from the yarn role) and make a chain as long as the short side of your laptop.

Steg 3

Row 2

When you are happy with the length of the chain, it is time to crochet back. Jump over the loop that is in your crochet and go through the one that comes after. Take the yarn through so that you get two loops on your crochet hook, then combine these two by grabbing the yarn again and pull through the two loops. Now you have made your first single crochet . Continue until you reach the end of the chain.

When you´ve worked a full row, add an extra loop (just pull the yarn through) before turning your work around and continuing with the third row. Be careful here - if you forget to add a loop, your work will be uneven on the sides.

Steg 4

Row 3 & Continuation

Again, jump over the first loop that holds your crochet hook. Look at your work from above - you will see that the loops form two “lines” a "V". Here you have two options for patterns, you can test which one you like the most:

Option 1: Striped texture (the case becomes slightly more flexible and airy):

Go under the back row, just the line behind with your crochet hook. Just like with the previous row, take the yarn through so that you get two loops on your crochet hook, then take the yarn one more way through the two loops.

Option 2: Solid structure (you crochet ordinary single crochet stitches, the case will be slightly heavier, but firmer):

Instead of going under the back loop, go under both loops and crochet the stitch in the same way as above.

Now you continue with the rest of the work, until you are happy with the size of your case. ATTENTION! Do not forget to leave a free loop at the end of each row, before moving on to the next row. The edge will be uneven. Continue until the length you have made, when you fold it twice, covers your computer on both sides. In the next step, you will stitch the sides together.

Steg 5

Remember

  • Remember to add an extra loop at the end of each row!
  • Keep an eye on the side of your work, so that it stays straight. You can also count the number of stitches to make sure
you have the same number all the time. If the sides becomes uneven, it is likely that you either skipped the extra loop or continues and make one stitch to much.
  • If the size is not good, do not hesitate to change. You cannot change the size later.

Steg 6

How to join the sides

Fold together the length you have crocheted. Make sure that the “edges” are also straight, before you start putting the sides together. From the corners you are on now, take the crochet hook through the nearest loop you have on the opposite side and crochet these two together. Continue to the next side and continue until you have completed the entire side.

Steg 7

Closing

When you are done with the sides, cut the yarn and leave a tail of about 5-10 cm. Make a simple knot to secure the yarn and pull it through a few loops on the inside to hide it. If you have a lot of yarn left, you can also crochet a round/edge around the opening, and then finish the yarn.

Steg 8

Congratulations - now you're done with your Laptop Case! :)
