Baby blanket “Ivy”

Crochet a soft and cozy baby blanket in MYO Dreamy Blend.

The blanket is crocheted with a beautiful seashell pattern and fits perfectly in the stroller, as a gift for a little one or as a cozy blanket on the sofa. You will need MYO Dreamy Blend and a 6 mm crochet hook. If you are crocheting hard or want a slightly more airy blanket, you can use a 7 mm crochet hook.

Yarn Consumption: Minimum of 200 g for a blanket measuring approx. 50 x 65 cm. Keep in mind that the yarn consumption varies depending on size, how tight/hard you crochet and which crochet hook you use.

Note that we in this instruction uses videos from out technique library. If you are looking for a full instruction video for a crocheted b, we suggest the blanket Gabriella.

Here's how to do it

The blanket is crocheted from short side to short side so you add the number of chain stitches corresponding to the length of the short side. You do not need change color every other row as in the picture, you can crochet the blanket in one color, you decide! If you crochet with different colors every second rows, you will get to attach a lot of yarn ends:) /Lizette

Steg 1

Row 1: Crochet a chain with as many chains as you wish. The number of chains shall be divisible by 6. For reference, the blanket in the picture is crocheted with 54 chain stitches. Once you have crocheted the number of chains you want on your short side, you will chain 2 more. If you are unsure how to make a slip knot or crochet chain stitches, see below videos.

Steg 2

Row 2: Start in the 2nd chain from your crochet hook. You skip the first stitch. If you had 54+2 (56) chains, you should crochet 55 single crochet, i.e. one fewer than the number of chains. Finish with chain 1 and turn your work. If you are unsure how to crochet a single crochet see below video.

Start in the 2nd stitch.
At the end, chain 1 and turn.
Steg 3

Row 3: Let's start with the seashell pattern, see below video if you are unsure how to crochet this pattern.

Start in the 2nd stitch from the crochet hook and crochet 1 single crochet. Skip 2 stitches and crochet 5 double crochet into the stitch after that. Skip 2 chains and crochet 1 single crochet. Continue in the same way until you have 3 stitches left in the row. Skip the next 2 and crochet 1 single crochet in the last stitch. Chain 1 and turn. If you start with 1 single crochet, you end with 1 single crochet.

If you want to change the color, always do the last pull through of your last stitch with the new color. See below video if in doubt.

Crochet 1 single crochet in 2nd stitch.
Skip 2 stitches and then crochet 5 double crochet in the next one.
Skip 2 stitches and crochet 1 single crochet.
When you have 3 stitches left, skip 2 stitches and crochet a single crochet in the last stitch.
If you want to change the color, make the last pull through with the new color.
This is what it looks like when you change the color.
Steg 4

Row 4: Start in the 2nd stitch from the crochet hook and crochet 3 double crochet. Skip 2 stitches and crochet 1 single crochet after that, which is on top of the last rows seashells. Skip 2 stitches and crochet 5 double crochet, this is in the last row's single crochet. Continue in the same way until you have 3 stitches left in the row. Skip the next 2 and crochet 3 double crochet in the last stitch. Chain 1 and turn. If you start with 3 double crochets, you end with 3 double crochets.

From now on, crochet row 3 and row 4 until you are satisfied with the length. Note! You need to crochet the last row of the seashell pattern as row 3, so start with a single crochet and finish with a single crochet. When you are satisfied, go to the next step.

Start in the 2nd stitch with 3 double crochet.
Skip 2 stitches and then crochet a single crochet on top.
Skip 2 stitches and crochet 5 double crochet in single crochet from previous row.
Continue.
When you have 3 stitches left, crochet 3 double crochet in the last stitch.
Steg 5

Finishing row on the seashell pattern

See below video (rewind to the end) to see how the finishing row row is crocheted.

When you are satisfied with the size of the blanket, crochet one last row so that the edge is straight. In the 2nd stitch, crochet 1 double crochet, then crochet 1 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches. Crochet a single crochet (on top of the seashell). Then crochet 2 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches, and then 1 double crochet in the “valley”. Continue. Chain 1 and turn. I crochet one last row on the blanket, see step 6.

Crochet 1 double crochet in the 2nd stitch.
Crochet two half double crochet in the next two stitches.
1 single crochet on top.
2 half double crochet in the next two stitches.
1 double crochet in the single crochet from previous row.
Continue.
Steg 6
