Baby boots “Sigrid”
Crochet a pair of cute baby booties that will keep the little feet warm
The pattern is adapted to suit both beginners and advanced level so that everyone can crochet these cute booties. A perfect handmade gift that is crocheted with love. The booties will be about 9-12 cm long depending on how hard/loose you crochet. These are crocheted in MYO Basic Wool and with a 6 mm crochet hook. MYO Basic Wool is made of 75% wool and since wool is naturally temperature regulating, it is a perfect material for small booties. There are often several stages in this pattern, but check the video if you are not sure, the video is created for beginners and all stages are shown on the video. If you want to crochet them a little bigger, check out step 1 to see how you can vary the size.
Yarn Access: 50 g/ pair in MYO Basic Wool (depending on how hard you crochet). If you want to use the yarn MYO Dreamy blend, the weight is around 20g /pair (smallest size).
This is what you need:
Here's how to do it
The booties can be varied in a few sizes without changing the pattern, the pattern is the same but crochet hook and yarn are the difference, see below for guide. Keep in mind that the size varies depending on how hard or loose you crochet.

Small
Yarn: MYO Basic Wool
Crochet Needle: 7 mm
Weight: about 55 g a pair
Size: about 12 cm (9-12 months depending on how big you crochet them)
Medium
Yarn: Double yarn of MYO Basic Wool
Crochet Needle: 7 mm
Weight: about 110 g a pair
Size: about 14 cm (18-21 months depending on how big you crochet them)
Large
Yarn: Double yarn of MYO Basic Wool or single yarn of MYO Chunky Wool (shown in the picture below)
Crochet Needle: 8 mm
Weight: about 130g (in MYO Basic Wool) or about 150g (in MYO Chunky Wool) a pair
Size: about 15 cm (1-2 years depending on how big you crochet them)
Start
Start by making a simple loop around your crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that the loop locks when you tighten. Leave about 15 cm tail.
The Chain
Now we will crochet the chain that is the base for the bottom. Crochet eight loops. To do this, take the yarn over the crochet hookand then pull through.
Round 2
We will crochet row two and we will crochet around the chain so that we crochet rounds instead of rows.
Leave the end of the yarn along the chain so it will be hidden when we start crocheting. Start in the second stitch, so there are seven stitches to crochet in on the front side. Crochet 6 single crochets, you crochet a single crochet by going down the stitch and pick up yarn and pull through, you now have two loops on the crochet hook. Pick up the yarn again and pull through. In the last stitch (top stitch), crochet four single crochts in the same stitch. Now we will crochet on the other side. Crochet five single crochets. In the last stitch, crochet four stitches in the same stitch. In total, you should have 19 stitches on your round.
One tip is to use a small yarn tail to mark where the round starts and ends. Place the yarn tail between the last stitch and the first stitch on the new round.
Round 3
We start row 3 with an increase. An increase is two stitches (single crochets) in the same stitch. After that, crochet four single crochets. Then you should crochet following sequence three times. The sequence is; one increase in the next stitch and then one stitch (single crochet) in the stitch after that. So you repeat this three times (increase, single stitch, increase, single stitch, increase, single stitch). After that, you crochet five singe crochets and in the last three stitches in this round, crochet two in each stitch, that is, three increases.
In total, you should have 26 stitches on your round.
Lap 4
Round 4
Start the round with two increases in the first two stitches (i.e. two stitches in the same stitch in the first two stitches). Then crochet five single crochets and after that, seven increases in the next seven stitches. After the increases, crochet eight single crochets. Finish by crocheting an increase, then a single crochet, then an increase and last, a single crochet.
In total, you should have 37 stitches on your lap.
If you want to measure how big the bootie will be, you can measure now because we will not be making any more increases on the bottom.
Round 5
Crochet one stitch in each stitch in back loop only. The back loop only is the loop that is furthest back from you. Look at the stitch from above and you will see that there are two lines, the back one is the backloop only. So go down the back loop and crochet a single crochet in each stitch. In total, you should have 37 stitches on your lap.
Round 6
Crochet a single crochet in each stitch (not only in the back loop this time, but under both). In total, you should have 37 stitches on your lap.
Round 7
Now let's start reducing the number of stitches so that the baby boot gets its shape.
Begin round seven by crocheting 33 single crochets and then a decrease. A decrease is crocheted by going under the front loop and after that you go under the next front loop (you have three loops on the crochet hook). Pick up yarn and pull through one loop, pick up yarn and pull through all the loops. Two stitches have become one stitch. After this decrease, crochet two single crochets. In total, you should have 36 stitches on your round.
Round 8
Start by crocheting 12 single crochets and then four decreases. After that, crochet 16 single crochets. In total, you should have 32 stitches.
Round 9
Start by crocheting 12 single crochets and then two decreases. After that, crochet 16 single crochets. In total, you should have 30 stitches.
Round 10
Start by crocheting 10 single crochets and then three decreases. After that, crochet 14 single crochets. In total, you should have 27 stitches.
Round 11
Start by crocheting 9 single crochets and then three decreases. After that, crochet 12 single crochets. In total, you should have 24 stitches.
Round 12
Start by crocheting 8 single crochets and then two decreases. After that, crochet 12 single crochets. In total, you should have 22 stitches.
Round 13
Start by crocheting 8 single crochets and then a decrease. After that, crochet 12 single crochets. In total, you should have 21 stitches.
Round 14 onwards
Crochet a single crochet into each stitch and continue until you have crocheted your baby boot as high as you wish. In the video, 5 turns are crocheted.
Closing
Attach the end of the yarn on the side of the bootie so it would not be visible. Go under a stitch and tie a knot, then hide the yarn tail under some stitches.
Now you're done with your baby bootie, one left to crochet!
