Surprise your partner, husband, brother or friend with this nice sweater. Sizes available in the pattern are S, M, L, XL, XXL. You will need MYO Basic wool and crochet hook 6 mm. Other things that are good to have are markers, needle and tape measure.
Yarn Consumption: 10 skeins of Basic wool for size S-M), 11 for size L and 12 for size XL-XXL.
Note that we in this instruction uses videos from out technique library.
This is what you need:
Here's how to do it
This pattern is crocheted 'top-down,' and the sweater is made without any seams. You start with the ribbing around the neck, and then we’ll gradually increase until you reach the sleeves. Continue with the yoke until you have enough increases for the chest/back. The sleeves are worked directly around the armhole opening. All sizes have the same size collar and neck opening. Work the pullover in rounds until the desired size is achieved. The pattern is written for size M. Hope you enjoy this sweater! /Johanna K
Sizes
The sizes are based on measurements when the sweater is laid flat (cm):
Total length / width (from underarm to underarm) / neckline / sleeve length (from underarm to ribbing)
- Small: 64 / 47 / 23 / 53
- Medium: 64 / 51 / 23 / 53
- Large: 64 / 55 / 23 / 53
- X-Large: 64 / 59 / 24.5 / 55
- 2XL: 64 / 63 / 24.5 / 55
If you want a looser fit, choose a larger size. If you'd like a longer sweater, crochet additional rounds.
- 2 chain stitches at the beginning of each round do not count as a stitch. Likewise, 1 chain stitch at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch.
- The entire garment is worked in rounds. At the end of each round, finish with a slip stitch and always turn your work.
Increases on the Raglan Yoke:
Round 1 after the neckline is the row where we begin the increases. In this round, increase by only 4 stitches. After that, there will be 8 increases per row. Then it will go back to only 4 increases per row again. Increases are made because we start the sweater from the top and work downward, so we need increases to allow the sweater to grow in size.
The increases are made with V-stitches. After round 1, these V-stitches are made in the chain space from the previous V-stitch. A V-stitch is made by crocheting 1 double crochet, 2 chains, and 1 double crochet in the same stitch (alternatively, 1 single crochet, 2 chains, 1 single crochet).
NECK RIBBING
Notes: You can adjust the width of the neck ribbing by crocheting more or fewer chain stitches.
Row 1 (wrong side): Chain 5. Turn and, starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet 1 single crochet in each chain stitch. Turn. You should have a total of 4 stitches. If you're unsure how to make a slip knot, chain stitches, or single crochet, see the videos provided at the end.
Row 2 (right side): Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch here or in the following rows). Make 1 single crochet in the back loop of each stitch. Turn. You should have a total of 4 stitches. If you're unsure how to crochet in the back loop only, see the video below.
Rows 3-68 [68, 68, 76, 76, 76]: Repeat Row 2. After the last row, chain 1. Fold the collar with the right side facing out and join the first and last rows with a slip stitch (working through the back loop). Turn the collar so that the seam is on the inside. If you're unsure how to make slip stitches, see the video below.
Make one single crochet in each row of the neck ribbing. You should have a total of [68, 68, 76, 76, 76] stitches.
Beginning of the Yoke
Note! In Row 1, place double crochets in the back loop only. This is only done on the first row to create a detail along the neckline. If you don’t want an extra detail at the neckline, you can place the double crochets through both loops on this row as well.
We will now start crocheting V-stitches to begin the yoke and increase the number of stitches. A tip is to mark all V-stitches so they’re easier to see. Note that the V-stitches in this pattern use two chain stitches instead of one, as shown in the video.
Row 1: Chain 2, turn. Crochet [8, 8, 9, 9, 9] double crochets in the back loop only. Then make one V-stitch (double crochet, chain 2, double crochet in the same stitch). Continue crocheting double crochets in the back loop only for a total of [16, 16, 18, 18, 18] stitches. Make another V-stitch. Crochet double crochets in the back loop only for a total of [16, 16, 18, 18, 18] stitches. Make the third V-stitch. Crochet double crochets in the back loop only for a total of [16, 16, 18, 18, 18] stitches. Make the last V-stitch, then continue with double crochets in the back loop only for a total of [8, 8, 9, 9, 9] stitches. Finish with a slip stitch into the first double crochet of the row. You should have a total of [72, 72, 80, 80, 80] stitches. You have increased by 4 stitches.
If you're unsure how to crochet double crochets or V-stitches, see the videos below.
Row 2: Chain 1 and turn. Crochet single crochets only in the back loop only. Continue until you reach the two chain stitches that you made in your V-stitches. There, make one V-stitch (1 single crochet, 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet) in the chain space. Repeat this until you are back at the start. Finish with a slip stitch in the first double crochet. You have increased by 8 stitches in this row.
Note: The rounds with single crochet are worked in the back loop only throughout the entire pattern.
Row 3: Chain 2 and turn. Crochet double crochets to the next chain space. Make a V-stitch there. Continue crocheting in the same manner: double crochets in all stitches until you reach the V-stitches, where you will crochet another V-stitch. Finish with a slip stitch in the first stitch. You will increase by 8 stitches with each row; see Step 4 for the stitch count per row.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 a total of (13, 15, 17, 19, 21) times. Finish with a round of single crochets. If you want to know how many stitches there will be in each round, see Step 4, which specifies the stitch count for each round.
Number of Stitches per Round [13, 15, 17, 19, 21]:
- Round 2: [80, 80, 88, 88, 88]

Continuation of the Yoke
Note! In this section, we will no longer increase by 8, but only by 4 stitches per round. The increases are made only for the front and back sections. We will not increase further at the sleeves.
Round [14, 16, 18, 20, 22]: Chain 1 and turn. Then crochet single crochets in the back loop only until you reach the chain space. There, make one single crochet in the chain space. Chain 2. Then crochet single crochets in the back loop only until you reach the second chain space; make 2 chain stitches. Crochet one single crochet in the chain space.
Continue crocheting single crochets in the back loop only until you reach the third chain space. There, make one single crochet in the chain space. Chain 2. Then crochet single crochets in the back loop only until you reach the fourth chain space; make 2 chain stitches. Crochet one single crochet in the chain space.
Round [15, 17, 19, 21, 23]: Repeat as the previous round, BUT use double crochets instead of single crochets. You will have increased by 4 stitches. In total, you will have [176, 192, 216, 232, 240] stitches.
Armholes
Now we will divide the work a bit to create armholes.
Round [16, 18, 20, 22, 24]: Chain 1 and turn. Crochet single crochets in the back loop until you reach your 2 chain stitches from the previous round. Chain [5, 7, 7, 9, 9]. Skip [46, 50, 56, 60, 64] stitches and start in the next stitch. Crochet single crochets in the back loop between the chain spaces. Make one single crochet in the next chain space.
Crochet single crochets in the back loop only until you reach your next 2 chain stitches from the previous round. Chain [5, 7, 7, 9, 9]. Skip [46, 50, 56, 60, 64] stitches. Crochet single crochets in the back loop only between the chain spaces. Make one single crochet in the next chain space.
Crochet single crochets in the back loop for the remaining stitches. In total, you will have [94, 106, 118, 130, 130] stitches.
Continuation of the Sweater
Round [17, 19, 21, 23, 25]: Chain 2 and turn. Crochet double crochets. When you reach the chain stitches that you made, crochet 1 double crochet in each of the [10, 14, 14, 18, 18] chain stitches from the previous round. Finish with a slip stitch in the first stitch. In total, you will have [104, 120, 132, 148, 148] stitches.
Round [18, 20, 22, 24, 26]: Chain 1 and turn. Crochet single crochets in the back loop all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch. In total, you will have [104, 120, 132, 148, 148] stitches.
Rounds [19, 21, 23, 25, 27] – 51 (or until you reach the desired length): Repeat the rounds with double crochets and single crochets in the back loop.
SIZE NOTE: Try on as you go! If you want a longer or shorter sweater, add or remove rounds in multiples of two until the desired length is reached.
Round 52: Chain 1 and turn. Crochet single crochets in both loops all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch in the first stitch.
Ribbing on the Sweater
Note: You can change the width of the ribbing by crocheting more or fewer chain stitches.
Chain 7 and turn.
Row 1: Begin in the 2nd chain and crochet single crochets to the end. Do not chain 1 when you turn. Crochet 2 slip stitches along the bottom edge of the sweater. Turn.
Row 2: Do not chain 1, skip the 2 slip stitches that you just crocheted along the bottom edge of the sweater. Crochet 6 slip stitches in the back loop. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat rows 1-2 around the entire sweater. Secure the beginning and end of the ribbing in the same way as with the neck ribbing.
Sleeves, Two Pieces
Round 1: Attach the yarn in the middle chain you made when you divided for the armholes (so that you start right under the armhole). Chain 2 and crochet a double crochet in the same stitch. Continue with double crochets for a total of (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) until you reach the first V-stitch. Skip the V-stitch and continue with double crochets for a total of [44, 48, 54, 58, 62] until you reach the next V-stitch. Again, skip the V-stitch. Continue with (2, 3, 3, 4, 4) stitches. Finish with a slip stitch into the first double crochet. In total, you will have [49, 55, 61, 67, 71] stitches.
Round 2: Chain 1, turn. Crochet single crochets in the back loop all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch.
Round 3: Chain 2, turn. Crochet 1 double crochet in each stitch all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch.
Rounds 4-10: Repeat rounds 2 and 3. Finish with a round of double crochets.
Note! If you prefer a non-shaped sleeve, you can continue repeating the rounds until you reach the desired sleeve length before adding the cuff. If you want to shape the sleeve, follow the instructions below.
Size Adjustment: Try it on as you go! If you want a longer or shorter sleeve, repeat rounds 1 and 2 more/less times here before continuing.
SHAPING THE SLEEVE
If you want to shape the sleeve, we will make decreases in the rounds to taper the sleeve towards the cuff. Decreases are made in every round with single crochets in the front loop. You should only make your decreases in the first two stitches of the round to keep the sleeve seam even.
Round 11: Chain 1 and turn. Make a decrease. Crochet single crochets in the front loop all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch into the first stitch. If you're unsure how to make a decrease, see the video below.
Round 12: Chain 2 and turn. Crochet 1 double crochet in each stitch all the way around. Finish with a slip stitch into the first stitch.
Rounds 13-31: Repeat rounds 11 and 12. Finish with a round of single crochets in the front loop. When you finish the last decrease round, you will have a total of [39, 45, 51, 57, 61] stitches.
Cuff of the Sleeve
You need to shape the end of the sleeve further so that it fits snugly around the wrist. You decide how many decreases you want to make to achieve the right shape. The following instructions will give a slightly looser opening.
Round 32: Work in both loops for this round. Crochet 4 decreases evenly spaced around the round (applies to all sizes).
Cuff
You will work the cuff part in the same way as you did with the lower ribbing of the sweater. You can make more or fewer chain stitches depending on how wide you want the cuff to be.
Crochet 7 chain stitches and turn.
Row 1: Start in the 2nd stitch and crochet single crochets to the end. Do not chain 1. Crochet 2 slip stitches along the bottom edge of the sleeve. Turn.
Row 2: Do not chain 1, skip the 2 slip stitches along the bottom edge of the sleeve. Crochet 6 slip stitches in the back loop. Chain 1 and turn.
Repeat rows 1-2 around the entire sleeve end. Secure the beginning and end of the ribbing the same way as with the neck ribbing.
Fasten off all yarn ends, see below video for guidance.
If you have any more questions or need further assistance, just let me know! Good luck, and I hope you’re pleased with your sweater! :)
