Crochet Scrunchie “Fanny”
Crochet a fluffy scrunchie that is easy to crochet and can be crocheted just as fluffy as you want!
All you need for this scrunchie is a rubber band, a 7 mm crochet hook and your favorite yarn from MYO, for example Eko Nano tube yarn, Basic Wool yarn or Chunky Wool yarn. The technique we crochet with is double crochet.
If you want to make an extra fluffy scrunchie, choose two strands of e.g. Basic Wool, here it´s fun to mix two colors, and crochet with a 10 mm crochet hook.
This is what you need:
Here's how to do it
Take out all the old hair ties that need a new look, and crochet them into nice scrunchies!
Step 1:
Start by making a slip knot. You do it like this: Wrap the yarn around two fingers so that the yarn crosses each other, then pull the yarn through the loop you just made and tighten it, you have now made a slip knot. Then fasten your knot with a single crochet around your scrunchie. Here´s how to make a single crochet: insert the crochet hook into the inside of your rubber band, catch the yarn, and pull up so you have two loops around the crochet hook. Catch the yarn again and pull through both loops, you have now made a single crochet.
Step 2:
Crochet 2 loops from your single crochet so that you have a total of three loops high. Then wrap the yarn 2 times around your crochet hook, dive down with the crochet hook on the inside of your rubber band and catch the yarn, pull up and pull through the first two loops on your hook, catch the yarn again, and pull through the next two loops and catch the yarn again a third time and pull through the last two loops. You have now made a double crochet.
To continue, wrap the yarn two times around your hook and repeat the same process. You crochet as many double crochets as you can around your rubber band, the more the fluffier.
Step 3:
Finish by crocheting a slip stitch in the first loop (the third loop on the chain we made very first on the round) Then crochet another loop, cut the yarn so that you get an end of approx. 7 cm and pull through the loop so that you get a knot. Hide your yarn end between your stitches with the crochet hook.
Tip: it may be easier to use a thinner crochet hook for this step if it feels tight.
You are now done! Good Job!
