EKO Mini tube yarn | 1000g
Narrow "Ribbon" yarn for crocheting, made of 80% recycled cotton
Buy productHere's how to do it

1. Start
Start by making a slip knot on the crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that the knot locks as you tighten. Leave approx. 15cm tail.
2. The chain
We will now make a chain. Adjust the loop you just made around your crochet hook so it is just tight enough around the crochet hook. Now we will start crocheting the chain, use the crochet hook and pick up the yarn with the end that comes from the yarn roll (you temporarily have 2 loops on the crochet hook) and pull through so that a loop is formed (first chain). Do this until you have 3 chains on the hook. Now you will close the ring by crochet together your first and your last stitch, this will be the top of the hat.
3. The top of the hat
Now crochet around until you have the diameter you want - follow the increases below to get a good increase. Keep track of your rounds by inserting a safety pin at the beginning of each round.
Round 1: Increase single crochet in each stitch = crochet two single crochet in each stitch
Round 2: Increase single crochet in each stitch = crochet two single crochet in each stitch
Round 3: 1 single crochet, 1 increase = every other stitch single, every other increase
Round 4 : 2 single crochet, 1 increase = make a single crochet in first 2 stitches, in the third you make two single crochets.
Round 5 : 3 single crochet, 1 increase = make a single crochet in first 3 stitches, in the fourth you make two single crochets.
Round 6 : 4 single crochet, 1 increase = make a single crochet in first 4 stitches, in the fifth you make two single crochets.
Round 7 : 5 single crochet, 1 increase = make a single crochet in first 5 stitches, in the sixth you make two single crochets.
Round 8 : 6 single crochet, 1 increase= make a single crochet in first 6 stitches, in the seventh you make two single crochets.
Round 9 : 7 single crochet, 1 increase = make a single crochet in first 7 stitches, in the eighth you make two single crochets.
After the 9th round - check the measurements of your head. If you need a larger hat, make another row or two before continuing with round 11.

Extra round 1: 8 single crochet, 1 increase
Extra round 2: 9 single crochet, 1 increase
Extra round 3 : 10 single crochet, 1 increase
4. The side of the hat
Rows 11 to 19 : one Single crochet in each stitch- no increases. This will create the side of the hat.
Crochet as many rounds as you want to get the size you want.
5. Brim
Round 20: Look at the stitches, they consist of two rows. The one closest to you is the front loop only and the one away from you is the back loop only. Crochet this round in the front loop only. Crochet 4 single crochet and one increase.
Round 21: 6 single crochet, one increase
Continue with single crochet until you have the width of the brim you want!
6. Finishing
Finish by cutting the yarn, leaving a 5-10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from unraveling. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops. Do the same to the tail that was left from the start (if you haven't already crocheted it in so it's hidden).
Now the hat is ready :)
