1. Find a project you both want to do

The most fun is if you find a project that you both like and something that the child wants to crochet. That way, you both participate and crochet the same thing. It will be a fun time together. Our tip for patterns is the crocheted shoulder bag, which consists of only two different types of stitches. Then you can make a bag each at the same time and it is useful for both of you. Do not choose a dark yarn, you must see the stitches .

2. Choose the right yarn

In our pattern on the shoulder bag, EKO braided rope 5mm is used, but it can be a little hard to crochet with at first. In this case, we recommend the yarn EKO Mini and crochet hook 7 mm. If you choose EKO mini, you can make the chain longer or shorter at the beginning to adjust the size easily, and also crochet more rows to the chain.

3. Patience

Learning to crochet means tearing up and starting over sometimes. It is completely normal and nothing strange at all. Take the time you need, be patient, take a break, and then start again. Take it at the children´s pace and let it take the time it needs. Important that crocheting does not become stressful. And don´t forget to give praise to eachother while creating!

4. Video instructions

Looking at Youtube together and crocheting according to the instructions is a good beginner´s tip, it is easier at the beginning to look than to read the instructions. Have the computer or iPad near you and check together and crochet each step together.
