Crochet pot holder “Kerstin”
Crochet a pot holder with beautiful texture
In this video, we will crochet a potholder that has a beautiful texture. This pot holder is a perfect gift! You can crochet the potholder in many of our yarns, for example, EKO Medium, Mini, or Nano.
Yarn consumption: Approx. 120g EKO Medium Tube Yarn depending on the size you choose to create.
This is what you need:
ECO Medium Tube yarn
The medium-thick variant of our tube yarns for crochet, made of 80% recycled cotton
Köp produktHere's how to do it
Get started
Start by making a simple loop around the crochet hook. One way you can do this is to wrap the yarn around your index and middle finger and then pull the yarn up so that the loop locks when you tighten. Leave about 15 cm tail.
The chain
Adjust the size of the loop around your crochet hook. Now we will start crocheting the chain, use the crochet hook and pick up the yarn with the end that comes from the yarn roll (you temporarily have 2 loops on the crochet hook), pick up the yarn again and pull through so a loop is formed (the first loop). Do this until you have a total of 16 stitches on your chain. You can crochet more loops if you want a larger pot holder or fewer if you want to crochet a small pot holder (or coaster).
Keep in mind that the pot holder will not be as big as the chain, it will be smaller.
Row 2
Now start following the chain back and crochet row 2. Skip the first loop (which is holding your crochet hook) and start going down the loop that comes after. Pick up the yarn and pull everything through immediately (slip stitch). Repeat this 14 more times so that you have 15 stitches on row 2 (there must always be one less than the number on the chain). When you have done this 15 times, make a simple loose loop.(chain stitch) Now you turn the work and continue with the next row
ATTENTION! If you forget to add a loose loop (chain stitch) before turning the work, the side of the potholder will be uneven.
Row 3
Now that you have turned your work, we will crochet back. Just like in row 2, you skip the first loop and start in the second stitch.
We will crochet slip stitches in only the back loop. Check the stitches, they have two rows/loops, go down in only the back one pick up yarn, and pull through both straight away. Crochet a total of 15 slip stitches in the back stitch loop. Finish the row with a single loose loop before turning the work.
ATTENTION! Remember not to crochet too tightly, then it will be far too tight to pull through.
Now continue crocheting the following rows as row 3. Crochet until the potholder is square.
The loop
When you have crocheted the last row, start crocheting loose loops, crochet as many as you wish to make the hanging loop as large as you want. When you are satisfied, you go down in the same stitch on the potholder as the last stitch you made on the last row. Make a slip stitch in that stitch.
Finishing
Cut the yarn and attach to the back of the pot holder. Go under a stitch on the back, tie a knot and hide the yarn end under nearby stitches.
