Crochet Table Mats “Vera”

Set the table with your own placemats with 80% recycled cotton yarn

These round plate coasters “Vera” are crocheted in the size you want and are easy to customize according to the size you want them. The table bases are crocheted with EKO Braided Rope 4 mm yarn and a 7 mm crochet hook, but you can also use EKO Mini yarn or EKO Braided Rope 3 mm, both available in different colors. This instruction is specially designed for beginners and you can determine the size of the coasters yourself.

Yarn Access: Approx. 330 g/coaster. To avoid the change of yarn, we recommend one roll (500 g) of EKO Braided Rope 4 mm per coaster. If you use EKO Braided Rope 3 mm, more is needed per coaster.

Steg 1

In this tutorial, we will crochet a placemat with poles.

Get started - the innermost ring

Hold the yarn in your left hand. Twist the yarn around your fingers (left hand) three times. Use your hook to go under the first two loops and hook the third with your hook and pull under the two finger loops, hook the yarn onto the hook and pull through. Now the loop on the crochet hook holds the double "inner ring" together and we can start on round 1.

Steg 2

First lap

To begin the first round of stitches, start by making three single loops.

Now we're going to make poles: Take the yarn over the crochet hook and go down with the crochet hook in the ring you just made, pick up yarn and pull through (you now have 3 loops on the crochet hook), pick up yarn and pull through 2 loops (you have two loops left on the hook), pick up the yarn one last time and pull through the last two loops. You have now crocheted a double crochet. Crochet another 10 pieces. You should have 11 posts plus the chain of 3 loops (as you did at the beginning). Now we're going to finish round 1 by bringing the hook down into the top of the three loops (as you did at the beginning) and pulling the yarn through both loops directly. Round 1 is now complete!

Steg 3

Second lap

Now the pad will grow in size and therefore we start adding extra stitches. You start round 2 just like round 1 by crocheting three loose loops. Then you crochet double treble crochets in each stitch, and in the last stitch you crochet a single treble crochet. You now have a total of 24 stitches. Finish the round the same way you finished round 1.

Steg 4

The following applies to laps 3-9:

Begin each round by working 3 single crochets. Finish in the same way as round 2.

Turn 3
Crochet double treble crochets in the first stitch and a single treble crochet in the following stitch. Now you crochet just like the last round, but you make double treble crochets in every other stitch, in every other stitch you only make one (single) treble crochet. When you have repeated this 2-1 "sequence" 11 times, you make double treble crochets in the stitch you have left, then you are done with the lap. You should have a total of 36 stitches.

Round 4
Work double treble crochets in the same stitch, then two single treble crochets in the next two stitches. When you have repeated this2-1-1 sequence 11 times, make two treble crochets in the same stitch and then a single treble crochet in the last stitch. You have worked a total of 48 stitches.

Round 5 - the pattern changes, be careful here! :)
Start the round by crocheting two single crochets in the next two stitches. Then crochet double treble crochets in the next stitch, then again three single treble crochets in the stitches after. When you have repeated this sequence (1 double, 3 single) 11 times, make double-double crochets in the last stitch. You should now have 60 stitches.

Round 6
Crochet a single treble crochet in the first stitch. Crochet a double treble crochet and then four single treble crochets in the stitches after. When you have repeated this sequence (1 double, 4 single) 11 times, you do a double pole and then you finish with single poles. You have crocheted a total of 72 stitches.

Round 7
Crochet four single crochets in the first four stitches. Crochet a double treble crochet in the same stitch and then five single crochet stitches after. When you have repeated this sequence (1 double, 5 single) 11 times, you finish with a double pole.

Round 8
Crochet two single crochets in the first two stitches. Crochet a double treble crochet in the next stitch and then six single treble crochets in the stitches after. When you have repeated this sequence (1 double, 6 single) 11 times, make a double-double crochet in the next stitch and then three single crochets in the last three stitches. You have crocheted a total of 96 stitches.

Round 9 (optional)
Crochet a double treble crochet in the next stitch and then 7 single treble crochets in the stitches after. When you have repeated this sequence (one double, 7 single) 11 times, you make 6 single posts. You should have a total of 108 stitches.

Steg 5

Finishing

Finish by cutting the yarn, leaving a 5-10 cm tail. Tie the remaining tail in a knot around the last loop to prevent it from unraveling. Tighten and hide the tail by attaching it through a few nearby loops.

Good Job!
